The Communication Science Study Program Student Association (HIMKOMUNIKA) Gajayana University (Uniga) Malang held the SPEAK UP (Speak to Upgrade Potential) activity as part of a series of Forming Leadership of Communication (FLOC) events. This activity will take place from 6 to 11 October 2025 at the Uniga Malang Campus.
SPEAK UP was attended by all new students of the Communication Science Study Program. The series of activities begins with the delivery of material by an internal presenter which is then continued with field practice to directly apply the knowledge that has been provided.
There are five main materials provided during the activity, namely Photography, Videography, Interview and Reporting Techniques, Public Speaking, and News Writing. These five materials are the basis of the knowledge studied in the Communication Science Study Program.
The Chief Executive of the activity, Lukman Hakim, said that it is hoped that this activity can provide initial provisions for new students.
"The expected output is for new students to get fundamental provisions from the materials in the Communication Science Study Program. The hope is that new Communication Science students have the basics regarding the subjects in the Communication Science Study Program," said Lukman.
In line with this, the General Chair of Himkomunika, Wirayuda, added that this activity was also a forum for introducing the basics of communication science as well as strengthening relations between administrators and new students.
"The expected output from this activity is of course that new students can become familiar with the basic knowledge that will be studied in the Communication Science Study Program, Gajayana University Malang. Apart from that, it is hoped that students will understand the basics of photography, videography, interview techniques, public speaking and news writing. Through this activity it can also foster closeness between Himkomunika administrators and new students," explained Wirayuda.
The SPEAK UP activity closed with awards for the best work students produced while participating in the activity. Through the theme "Speak to Upgrade Potential" which is interpreted as speaking, developing and leading, this activity emphasizes that the courage to speak is the main key in building a leadership spirit.
